Fitness has always been an important part of my life. From dance training, pilates, weight training, aerobics, running, skateboarding, surfing, snowboarding, hiking, yoga, spinning, and cross fit, I like to try new fitness activities and adapt them into my healthy life style. I pursued fitness goals and became a fitness trainer and aerobics instructor before I began teaching high school. I have trained and completed half marathons. What has changed my life the most, since dance, was my introduction to yoga which has helped me through injuries and I am sure prevented others. Without yoga, I know I would not be able to teach dance every day. I have my 200 hour, yin yoga and Rocket teacher certification.

What sparks my interest lately, is the amount of fitness that is directly available to make dance training easier, safer, and more effective. I am a certified Progressing Ballet Technique instructor, a program that uses large fitness balls to help find and strengthen the muscles and connections used in ballet. It is a revolutionary new program developed by Marie Walton-Mahon. You can find out more information about the program here.

I have taken the Sugarfoot Therapy teacher training which is another amazing, scientifically proven, injury prevention training for dancers designed by a physical therapist, Nicholas Cuti along with the help of his professional dancer/choreographer wife, Katie Schaar. You can find more about Sugarfoot Therapy here.

I am also a certified Barre fitness instructor. Barre is a low impact, full body workout that focuses on eccentric and isometric contractions with high repetitions to burn out the targeted area.
